about

Today Lo-Flo Records releases the third in a series of 5 singles—written & recorded in the ‘60s—from New Orleans’ star Lydia Marcelle, written by prolific composer Jane McNealy and arranged by the legendary Harold Battiste, Jr.

“This Time We're Really Through” is an archetypal 1960’s pop ballad that tells the story of a love lost and is brought to life by Marcelle’s bittersweet vocal rendition. Pulled from McNealy’s vast archive, this single, as well as the four other songs in the series, have never been released before and have been remastered by award-winning engineer Sameer Sengupta.

Once again, the groovy accompanying music video in this 5-song series was created by French artist Julie Flogeac. This time Flogeac connects the music with fashion and beauty of the era especially in its advertisements, and spotlighting relationships between men and women in entertainment at the time. Among the footage, world renown model Twiggy is featured.

lyrics

If you, ask me one more time to,
come back,
for a second time you’ll,
surely break my heart in two-
Don’t you know there’s no -one
but you …
So can’t you see that,
This time we’re really through.
‘cause you know that…

(verse 2)
I’m not, strong enough to take,
love, when,
love becomes heartache, and,
don’t you think I’d give into you -
if I thought that you… would be true.
So can’t you see that,
This time we’re really through.

(bridge)
All I ever did was, live for the day
When you come back to me and say..
“‘Darlin’ there’s no one but you”
But love, doesn’t work that way.
Don’t you know that…

(verse 3)
Time has, made a fool of me, I guess
I, was is too blind to see that,
waiting for you couldn’t renew…
all the love that I, shared with you.
So can’t you see that,
This time we’re really through,
this time we’re really through.
